We will be performing routine maintenance on NETDRIVE and SYSIMAGE beginning at 10:00pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. The work should be completed by 11:00pm.

During the maintenance the servers will be restarted and the following services will be affected:

- all Windows shares beginning with \\netdrive
- all Windows shares beginning with \\uvic\storage\
- all Windows shares beginning with \\sysimage
- all MacOS volumes served from netdrive.uvic.ca

Therefore, please avoid using those services during the maintenance window. If you can't avoid using the services, save your work often to minimize the possibility of losing work in progress.

Subject: Key Management Service update

The enterprise Key Management Service (KMS) will be updated to allow for activations of Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and Microsoft Windows 10 LTSC 2019. No outage is expected.

Subject: Windows 10 update

Desktop Support Services will be updating Windows 10 computers with a required feature and security update from Microsoft over the weekend of June 29 - July 1, 2019. To ensure that your computer receives the update, please log out of your computer at the end of day on Friday and leave your computer turned on.

For laptops that are not left turned on overnight, we strongly recommend you run the Windows update service to install the Windows 10 1809 feature update. This update will take up to 30 minutes to install and will require a reboot of your computer. Contact DSS or the Computer Help Desk if you need assistance with the update.

Once your computer has been updated, you will see the "Hi... We are getting everything ready for you. This may take a few minutes." message the next time you login.

Subject: Symantec Endpoint Protection update

Supported Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) clients will be updated to the latest version (14.2.3335.1000) which includes security and compatibility updates. Users will be prompted to reboot their computers after the update.

Subject: Change to Server Side Active Sync Timeout

Network Services will be changing the idle timeout on the Load Balancer to match the idle timeout on the Exchange Active Sync servers on June 26, 2019 at 7:00am.

This change will only affect new connections so no impact or disruption is anticipated.

Any problems with this change should be reported to netadmin@uvic.ca.

Subject: NETS - ISE Server patching - 7:30 AM June 27 2019

Network services will be patching ISE servers for bug fixes and vulnerabilities beginning at 7:30 AM on Thursday June 27 2019.
These systems handle authentication for VPN and wireless on campus.

No outages are expected. Work will be completed by 8:30 AM.
